M108 Light Crane
This truck is a
Unique prototype developed by the Army. A rare Military installed prototype
Split Brake system was installed on this truck at the Romulus NY Depot. Of the
vehicles converted, This truck is the only remaining unit of this type. This
brake system is not at all like the type of brake system used on the later
M35A3. Interesting features include two remote brake reservoirs which are
located in the cab. The brake system consists of two separate brake circuits.
These brakes are actually air over hydraulic in nature. In the photo you can see
the air valve and the distinctly different brake pedal assembly which is a tell
tale indication of the rare and unique truck that this vehicle is. Also, it can
be seen in the photo that there is an air actuated parking brake as opposed to
an electric-hydraulic brake lock type. This is located on a panel on the far
left bottom of the dash and it appears very similar to the standard Air control
for the front axle in a later Deuce.
This truck has a Multifuel engine and runs and
drives well.
